Each person and animal has their own viewpoint, which is why they may react differently to the same situation. Just like humans, animals can have varying preferences. For instance, a baby elephant might enjoy playing with birds, whereas a baby rhino could be disinterested in making friends with them. It’s both amusing and endearing to see how animals possess such unique personalities.

One example of this is when a group of oxpeckers, small birds, landed on the back of a newborn hippopotamus while it was playing around. Initially, the hippo didn’t mind the birds’ presence, but after a few seconds, it wanted them to go away. However, when the birds refused to fly away, something incredibly funny happened!

Take a look at these amusing photographs captured by photographer Marc Mol at the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia! While busy photographing a group of hippos, Mol noticed a young hippo dashing towards him with a few birds, known as oxpeckers, perched on its back. It’s a delightful and charming moment captured on camera!

The frightened infant hippopotamus cried out for help as a group of small birds, oxpeckers, began pecking at its back. The hippo was terrified and tried everything in its power to shoo away the unwelcome guests. “I’m not kidding; you guys have to stay away from me,” pleaded the distressed hippo.

The infant hippopotamus ran and twisted its body in an attempt to shake off the pesky birds that were trying to feed on it. The hippo even pretended to run towards the water to scare away the birds, but to no avail. Fortunately, the birds eventually grew tired of their attempts to feed and flew away.

Oxpeckers and hippos share a unique relationship where the birds help keep the hippos clean by feeding on ticks and other insects off their skin. However, in this particular scenario, a baby hippopotamus doesn’t appreciate the birds’ presence since it finds them bothersome and annoying. The hippo does its best to shoo them away.

When Marc shared pictures of the adorable baby hippopotamus on the internet, they quickly gained popularity. Many individuals empathized with the young animal and found its facial expressions to be amusing. Despite this, the hippo didn’t seem to pay attention to the oxpeckers. And that’s the story!
