The natural tendency of all mothers, whether they are human or animal, is to defend their offspring, and this Australian cat in New South Wales is the epitome of what a mother can do to safeguard her babies.
A mother cat and her three kittens were among the family of cats that a bystander noticed by the side of the road. He made an instant contact to CatRescue 901, a Terrey Hills rescue organisation. Upon their arrival, the cat approached the rescuers and guided them to the exact location of her three kittens. Skin and bones, she had obviously done everything in her power to keep her creatures well-fed and secure.
The four cats were clearly malnourished when they arrived at the shelter, and they required medical attention. When the veterinarians examined the three kittens, they discovered that they had eyelid agenesis, a congenital ailment that left them without eyelids and might have resulted in blindness if left untreated.
They were given food and water, and given cosy beds to sleep on. Elodie, the cat mother, was doing better after receiving medication and having her spayed. Although there is still a long way to go before they fully recover, what matters is that their mother Elodie is certain they are in capable hands.
